MONTHLY AWARENESS

August is National Immunization Awareness Month

National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM) is an annual observance held in August to highlight the importance of vaccination for people of all ages. Together, we can help raise awareness about the importance of vaccination and encourage people to talk to a healthcare provider they trust about staying up to date on their vaccinations.

National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM) is celebrated every August to highlight the importance of vaccines for people of all ages. NIAM aims to raise awareness of how vaccines can help prevent serious diseases and protect people from outbreaks. Vaccines are one of the most successful and cost-effective public health tools for preventing disease and death. They can also help prevent the spread of diseases to others, especially those who are most vulnerable, such as infants, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems

August is National Breast Feeding Month

Breast milk is the best food for babies in the first year of life to help them grow healthy and strong. Throughout August, join the March of Dimes community to raise awareness and learn the benefits of breastfeeding for both mom and baby

August is National Breastfeeding Month — a month dedicated to advancing advocacy, protection, and promotion of breastfeeding to ensure that all families have the opportunity to breastfeed. Equity gaps in access to resources and support create troubling disparities for breastfeeding mothers and birthing people.

  International Overdose Awareness Month

International Overdose Awareness Day
August 31 is recognized as International Overdose Awareness Day the world’s largest annual campaign to end overdose, remember those we have lost to an overdose, acknowledge the grief of the family and friends left behind, and renew our commitment to end overdose and related harms.

The campaign raises awareness of overdose, which is one of the world’s worst public health crises and stimulates action and discussion about evidence-based overdose prevention and drug policy.
