2024 Annual Forgiveness, Population Health and Equity Conference
The Annual Forgiveness, Population Health and Equity Conference touches on all aspects of unforgiveness, inequity, and its effects on health. The conference brings together experts from public health, academia, counseling, mental health, health equity, medicine, and faith-based organizations. The 2024 conference theme was “Forgiveness, Artificial Intelligence, Equity, and Peace. For the first time, in 2024, the conference was spread across several days and ran from September 14, 2024, to September 21, 2024. Each day had a different focus and different speakers. Several attendees reported preferring this series format to a long training day. Each session was also offered live on Facebook.
Day One: Patient/Provider Health Care Panel Discussion
Starting on September 14, 2024, and using the Facebook Live format, we kicked- off the conference series with a Patient /Provider Panel Discussion entitled “Empowering Patients in the Medical System to Advance Health Equity.” Dr. Karen Boone facilitated this. Mrs. Susie Richardson, a patient; Ms. Diane Hodge, a dietitian; Dr. Deborah Chambers, a health care administrator; and Inja Sinyangwe, a nurse, joined Dr. Boone to discuss the challenges in the US healthcare system and how to navigate this as a minority best. Day Two: International Forgiveness Day Conference
September 18, 2024, was International Forgiveness Day, and this conference day focused on forgiveness in the church and community. The event ran from 1 PM to 3 PM and was led by Pastor Williams, Dr. Saunders, and Ms. Pamela Barnes. This session was the most poorly attended of the conference day series. This was a Wednesday night, and we did not want to interfere with mid-week Life Groups and Bible Studies, but we believe now that this is not the best time for such an event.

On February 19, 2024, Pastor Emanuel Williams and Dr. Saunders participated in a podcast for Emory’s Center for Contemplative Science and Compassion-Based Ethics, discussing the forgiveness programs and services offered by FFHM.
